Election results 2019: When do polls close – what time will we have a result?


When do we find out the result?

Keen politics and election fans are in for a nail-biting night as the results of constituencies across the country trickle in from 10pm.

At 10pm, the result of the exit poll will be published, providing a strong indication on how the results will pan out for other parties.

The first result usually comes in at 11pm.

In 2010 and 2015, Houghton and Sunderland South was the first seat to declare, but it was beaten to the punch in 2017 by Newcastle upon Tyne Central.
