Mr McCluskey also said there were “very real issues” with the Labour’s Brexit stance – while claiming Mr Corbyn had been “betrayed” by his own MPs. A YouGov poll released last week predicted to Labour losing traditional seats in Leave voting constituencies like Bolsover, Stoke, Wolverhampton, Doncaster, Darlington and Leigh. Looking ahead to the general election on December 12, Mr McCluskey told the Huffington Post: “Our Achilles heel is in our communities, in what’s known as our heartlands, that voted Leave and are not quite sure yet whether they will give their vote to Labour.
“If we can engage people listening to what’s on offer, what type of Britain and country we want as we go into the future, then we are on a winner.
“It’s very much a question of how we do that, whilst at the same time tackling the very real issues we’ve got over Brexit and with Jeremy in some places.”
Mr McCluskey also complained about the “vicious” campaign waged against Mr Corbyn by the media, adding: “He’s been slaughtered personally, in a way that a weaker man would have collapsed by now, but he’s strong enough.
“He’s been betrayed by many of his own MPs, in a way that has been difficult to understand.”
However, he warned: “The one thing that we know about the public is they don’t like any divisions and in any political party.
“So of course the whole issue of Jeremy becomes an issue within any election campaign.”
YouGov interviewed roughly 100,000 people in all 650 UK constituencies between November 19 and 26.

According to a map recently released by betting specialists at Oddschecker, the Conservative Party is nearly guaranteed to take the vote this December.

8am update: Leavers urged to use tactical voting site or ‘we lose it ALL’
Brexiteers will be told how to make their ballot paper count in the election using a tactical voting website. Unite2Leave will allow Leavers to see which Brexit-backing candidate has the greatest chance of winning in each constituency.
The voting database was created by the former Brexit Party hopeful for Broxtowe Calvin Robinson. He said: “Brexit is on the line. We’ve fought so hard to take back control and to get out of the EU and we are so close to achieving that aim.
“But if voters aren’t tactical, we will lose it all. That’s why I stood down as Brexit Party candidate in Broxtowe.
“We are all united by our belief in Brexit and we must support the candidates who are best placed to deliver Brexit.”
