Three elderly best friends have decided to move in together while self-isolating, just so they can enjoy a good ol’ Netflix binge.

Can’t say we blame them.

As the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus and deaths continues to rise in the UK, the elderly have been advised to self-isolate for up to 12 weeks in a bid to protect themselves from catching the flu-like infection.

They are considered at high risk of developing a more serious illness if they were to contract the virus, but it’s not all bad news, as some elderly are choosing to make the best of a not-so-ideal situation.

Take BFFs and lifelong pals Doreen, Dotty and Carol. They’ve been through everything from divorce to suffering a loss together and now they’re joining forces to battle through quarantine.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, the ladies revealed that they’ll be shacking up together for the forseeable and their plan going forward is to binge watch The Crown.

All three women have enough rooms to accommodate them all together, and after spending seven days in isolation to make sure they’re fit and healthy, they’re now living together at Carol’s house.

Doreen explained: ‘We’re in Carol’s at the moment. Dotty’s got a lovely long back garden which would be great for exercising… I’ve got no garden, but I have got a front room in case we get tetchy with each other. That could be handy.

‘And I’ve got Netflix, so we could watch The Crown. I think I’m the winner.’

Dotty joked: ‘We’ll have a supply of wine in,’ then grabbed a bottle of wine and a glass and told host Jayne: ‘It’s for when we’ve finished [the interview].’

Absolute queens. Sounds like they’re going to be having a real hoot and, tbh, we want in.

Netflix series The Crown follows the lives of the royal family, with Claire Foy appearing as Queen Elizabeth in series one and two, and Matt Smith playing Prince Phillip.

Olivia Colman took over as Queen Elizabeth in series three and season four for the Netflix show has just finished filming.

Although, it’s been revealed the show will end after season five, with showrunner Peter Morgan explaining there needs to be distance between reality and the much-loved series.

He revealed: ‘You can’t fully examine incidents that happened yesterday. There has to be 10 to 20 years’ distance. And in some instances much longer.’

According to Morgan, the final series – which won’t be filmed until 2021 or 2022 – will be ‘explosive’ and will culminate with Britain entering the new millennium.

Season five will see Imelda Staunton take over from Colman as the Queen.
