MILLIONS of EE customers can now get a free six month free subscription to Amazon Prime Video and MTV Play video from today.
The new deal, which is open to new and existing customers, also means customers won’t use any of their data when streaming videos from either app.
Customers will have access to popular Amazon Prime shows likes The Grand Tour, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and American Gods.
While MTV Play app includes latest episodes of smash hit series like Geordie Shore, The Charlotte Show and The Hills.
The perk is in addition to to the existing offer of six months free subscription to Apple Music and three months of BT Sport, which is also open to new and existing customers.
EE is also launching a new Video Data Pass, which costs £8.99 a month, and can be used to stream Netflix, BT Sport, and TVPlayer without using their data allowance.
The pass is available on a flexible 30-day rolling contract.
Customers need to activate their Prime Video and MTV subscription by September 11 2019.
To sign up customers must text “Prime Video” and “MTV” to 150 to subscribe.
Customers will be given the option to continue the subscription at the end of the six months.
It follows an announcement from Sky Mobile last week offering customers unlimited streaming of Sky telly without using data.
Marc Allera, chief executive of BT’s consumer division – which owns EE – said: “It’s our ambition to offer our customers unrivalled choice, with the best content, smartest devices, and the latest technology through partnerships with the world’s best content providers.
“In offering all EE pay monthly mobile customers Amazon Prime Video and MTV Play access, in addition to BT Sport and Apple Music – we’re providing them with a wealth of great entertainment they can experience in more places thanks to our superfast 4G network, and soon to be launched 5G service.
“So, if they want music on a Monday, telly on a Tuesday, films on a Friday or sport on a Saturday, we’ve got something for them.”
The telecoms firm is expected to be among the first to begin rolling out 5G network technology later this year, which is predicted to offer data speeds several times faster than current generation 4G.
5G will also be able to handle higher levels of data with reduced amounts of lag, which is likely to allow for better quality video streaming on mobile devices.
Several operators – including EE – are currently running trials of the technology in several areas of the UK
