Two entrepreneurs who built a successful fintech start up in London are expanding the business in their home city of Edinburgh.
Craig Unsworth and Urchana Moudgil set up customer loyalty app Upgrade Pack after meeting through work in London.
They have watched Edinburgh’s tech community bloom and have now brought their business home to be a part if it.
The startup is one of the first tenants of the new WeWork co-working space at 80 George Street due to open this year and will employ a small team there as it expands internationally.
Upgrade Pack provides members with exclusive access to discounts on upgraded flights and hotel rooms. Memberships are funded by the company’s partner clients as a reward for customer loyalty.
They have attracted investments of £3.4 million, valuing the business at £15 million and bring forward their plans for a Scottish base.
Harvard graduate and strategy specialist Unsworth and chartered accountant Moudgil met while working at consulting firm Teneo in London and formed Upgrade Pack last year with a head office in Richmond where it employs 26 people.
Chief executive officer Unsworth said: “As well as the clear personal connection of Edinburgh as home for Urchana and I, we are also inspired by the burgeoning fintech community within the city.
“With these premises, and eventually a regional team based here, we look forward to playing a small part in this continued growth, as well as bringing the benefits of more accessible flight and hotel upgrades to the people of Scotland.”
Chief operating officer Urchana will speak at the Women in Tech Scotland event at the EICC next week.
