Eden Hazard has backed Romelu Lukaku to thrive at Inter Milan after his £73million move from Manchester United.

Lukaku was rated as one of the best strikers in the Premier League when he made a £74m switch to United from Everton in 2017.

The Belgian star netted 27 goals in his first season at Old Trafford before contributing a further 15 during the 2018-19 campaign.

But he lost his place in the Manchester United starting line-up to Marcus Rashford last season and was sold to Italian giants Inter last week.

Hazard, reacting to Lukaku’s move, told Corriere della Serra: ‘Romelu is a fantastic striker, a bomber who knows how to adapt to all the conditions of the game.

‘Everyone plays better with him in the team.’

Hazard has made it clear that his move from Chelsea to Real Madrid was partly down to Zinedine Zidane, who he says he ‘idolised’ as a child.

‘One of my idols, as a child, was Zinedine Zidane. I had his poster in the room and now I have the opportunity to be trained by him,’ Hazard said.

‘As a child I dreamed of one day wearing Real Madrid’s shirt. When the Real knocks on your door you can do only one thing: open it.

‘At Chelsea I’ve spent unforgettable years, but here I am in seventh heaven.’

Hazard spent his final three seasons at Chelsea playing under Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri.

Asked how the Italian managers differ, the forward said: ‘They are different from each other in terms of character and football idea, but they have one thing in common: they are two winners.

‘They have a marked style, they know which indications to give to the group.’
