Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk gets the honour of adorning the Champions Edition cover, whilst EA remains coy on who’ll be on the front of the Ultimate Edition.

EA Sports has revealed its cover stars for the upcoming release of FIFA 20, with Eden Hazard adorning the standard edition and Liverpool superstar Virgil van Dijk on the cover of the Champions Edition.

This is the third time on the cover for Eden Hazard, with FIFA 15 and 17 both showcasing the former Chelsea star. It is however, a new era for the Belgian, with him being kitted out in Real Madrid white for the first time.

For the middle tier version of FIFA 20, the Champions Edition, Liverpool giant Virgil van Dijk stands proud, having led the Reds to Champions League glory last season.

With the release date fast approaching, EA has spent the last week teasing fans with FIFA 20 updates, but chose to keep them guessing over the identity of the cover star for the Ultimate Edition – the priciest version of the game.

Hazard took to Twitter to confirm the news, which, whilst not as big a deal as the cover star reveal for the NBA 2K series, still bookends a remarkable summer that saw the Belgian depart Chelsea for Real Madrid in a £90 million move.

EA Sports has yet to announce an official release date for the FIFA 20 demo but fans can expect news in the coming weeks, ahead of a likely release in the week of 9 September.

The game itself is out on 27 September, although fans purchasing the Ultimate and Champions Editions will gain access on 24 September, with prices ranging from £53.99 to £89.99.
