Eden Hazard reminds Chelsea where his loyalties lie after Real Madrid draw

Eden Hazard has been quick to remind Chelsea that his history with them counts for nothing as he targets the Champions League final with Real Madrid.

The Belgian left Stamford Bridge in 2019 following a hugely successful seven years in west London.

His time in Spain has not gone as planned but he is still desperate to get one over on his former employers.

Madrid will head to Chelsea needing to score at least once after the Blues bagged an away goal in a 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital.

And whilst Hazard relishes playing against friends his focus remains solely on winning.

He told BT Sport: “It’s always good to play against friends. I have a couple of friends over there.

“But now I’m a Real Madrid player I just want to win, doesn’t matter if it’s against Chelsea or another team I just want to win. It’s always good to see some faces.”

Los Blancos were second best for large periods and needed a Karim Benzema strike to rule out Christian Pulisic’s opener.

“It could be worse and it could be better so I think we have a second leg to play over there,” added Hazard.

“We have a weekend game to play against Osasuna, try to take three points and then we have to go there to try to win the game.”

The Belgian is easing his way back after another injury problem and will look to feature more prominently in next week’s second-leg.

But after more than a year of fitness issues he is being cautious.

He continued: “I just want to go step by step. Of course, I want to play, I want to be on the pitch. Last game I play 15 minutes, today I play a little bit more.

“I just want to play good games until the end of the season so I just want to be ready for them. I feel in a better condition, the body’s better so I’m just happy I can play again.”
