Eddie Hearn believes Anthony Joshua will beat Andy Ruiz Jr on points during their rematch in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua suffered the first defeat of his career in a shock upset against Ruiz at Madison Square Garden on June 1.

But the 29-year-old has the opportunity to win back his titles as the rematch is due to take place in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, on December 7.

Joshua was stopped in the seventh round by Ruiz during their first clash in New York but Hearn believes their second encounter will go the distance.

‘I think it’s more getting the strategy right for this fight,’ Hearn told Behind the Gloves.

‘But more importantly, getting the mindset right for this fight.

When asked for his prediction, Hearn replied: ‘Joshua wins on points.’

Joshua has also claimed that Ruiz won the fight because of a ‘lucky punch… sent by the gods’ and Hearn admits there was an element of fortune in New York.

‘It’s hard to say in boxing that it’s a lucky punch because everybody means to land a punch,’ said Hearn.

‘I think where it hit him on the head was maybe lucky, he wasn’t aiming there.

‘He hit him there [on his chin] two seconds before, no problem. One spot on the side of his head took his balance away.

‘But it’s hard to say lucky because he meant to throw the punch, but it was lucky with the spot it hit him at. Let’s see if he can as lucky in the rematch.’
