Ed Woodward is expected to follow up on his promise of Manchester United investing heavily in the summer by doubling down on his word when speaking to club investors this week.
Earlier this month the United executive vice-chairman said the club viewed this summer’s transfer window as an important opportunity to rebuild the club.
United wanted to add four players across the winter and summer windows but only brought in Bruno Fernandes full-time in January. Odion Ighalo of course arrived on loan.
With United far from competing with the likes of Liverpool and Man City, and a Champions League place still a doubt this season, the Reds are expected to recruit heavily come July 1.
“Our recruitment process focuses on analysis and selection of players over the course of a season, with a view to the following summer transfer window,” said Woodward.

“As part of the rebuild we see this coming summer as an important opportunity.”
Woodward will speak this week following United’s latest set of quarterly financial results and face questions from investors.
With fans caring little about sponsorship deals and shirt sales it is expected that Woodward will reiterate his desire for United to invest in the summer, as per the Standard.
Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and James Maddison remain high up United’s wishlist.
Villa midfielder Grealish recently responded to the speculation surrounding his future and said he is taking it with a pinch of salt.

“Of course it’s nice,” he told the Express & Star. “Who doesn’t like to be talked about in a nice way? But, to be honest, I try and take everything with a pinch of salt.
“I had it all five years ago when I broke through and I was getting talked about a lot. I was 19 years old, going online reading about myself and I couldn’t believe it.
“I was in the papers all the time and they were asking: ‘Is this the new big thing?’ Then just one thing goes wrong and it all comes down on you like a ton of bricks.
“It is nice to read and nice to listen to, but I don’t let it get to me too much, because I know how quickly it can change.”
