Ed Sheeran has revealed the sad news that he has tested positive for Covid-19 and will now be self-isolating.
The Bad Habits singer will give all pre-planned interviews from his Suffolk home, as he quarantines and follows government advice.
The sad news comes just hours after the 30-year-old singer announced he will be appearing again on Saturday Night Live next month.
Following a report from PA News, Ed confirmed the news about his health via a statement on social media.
“Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines,” he wrote to his Instagram fans.
“It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews / performances I can from my house,” he continued.
“Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x,” the star concluded.
Fans rushed to wish the Shape of You singer well as he recovers from the infectious disease.
” I’m sorry to hear that! Get better soon,” one concerned fan wrote under the pop star’s update.
Another added: “Stay safe Ed!!”

The news of Ed being struck down with Covid-19 may put his plans to appear on Saturday Night Live in jeopardy.
Current government rules state you must self-isolate for 10 full days from the day of your last positive test.
This is law and no-one is exempt, regardless of their vaccination status.
Ed’s news comes as the UK experiences a surge in positive Covid-19 cases.
In the last seven days 328,287 people tested positive, with 949 deaths and 6,720 hospital admissions, according to official government figures.
It’s not yet know when Ed contracted the virus and when his self-isolation period began.
On Saturday, it was revealed that the musician will join HBO’s Succession star Kieran Culkin on an upcoming episode of popular American series, Saturday Night Live.
During this weekend’s show, hosted by SNL legend and Ted Lasso creator Jason Sudeikis, Ed’s upcoming cameo was teased to viewers.
Next month’s appearance on the American comedy series will be Ed’s third, having also been the musical guest back in 2014 and 2017.
