Ed Sheeran has thrilled fans by sharing a snippet of a new song called Bad Habits on his TikTok account.
The four-time Grammy Awards winner shared an insight into his new music release ahead of the launch of his fifth studio album.
The new album is rumoured to be continuing the maths theme of his previous offerings and is believed to be called Minus or Subtract.
In the short TikTok clip, Ed Sheeran was seen wearing vampire fangs, along with seven other castmates and back-up dancers all showing their scary teeth.
The musician’s upcoming song Bad Habits was playing in the background for a couple of seconds, and appeared to be uncovering the following lyrics: “My bad habits lead to late nights sleeping alone, conversations with a stranger I barely know.”
The 30-year-old artist was wearing the same hot pink suit he was seen with, in his recently released teaser for the music video of Bad Habits.
The teaser clip had a Gotham-inspired theme as the singer was shown embodying Heath Ledger’s Joker.
Moreover, Ed’s funky tie and goth-like make-up were clearly visible in the TikTok clip, as he was smiling for the camera.
He captioned the clip: “Bad habits coming 25th June but I put the sound up on here early, enjoy.”
The cheerful TikTok received nearly 250,000 likes and was viewed 2.1 million times since it was first uploaded yesterday.
Fans were quick to comment on the singer’s unusual darker style as one jokingly wrote: “Emo Sheehan.”
Another fan was also amused by Ed’s new appearance and wrote: “Eddy Sheeran became Edgy Sheeran.”
Other people were simply pleased to see their favourite musician releasing a new album since Ed’s last 2019 album, No.6 Collaborations Project.
A person commented: “Eddy, this could be a comeback.”
As the chart-topping singer previewed Bad Habits on the video-sharing platform, TikTok users will be able to use the clip for their own video creations.
TikTok’s video and music sharing concept has allowed many up and coming artists to see their songs go viral, such as Doja Cat ’s Say So and Saweetie’s Tap In.
While the social media app works its magic – seeing Bad Habits has already been used in over 4,500 TikTok videos – Ed is preparing for an upcoming concert.
The Shape Of You singer is set to perform the new track live for the first time at the home of his beloved football club Ipswich Town during the TikTok UEFA Euro 2020 Show on June 25.
His song and new album will also be released on that date.
Announcing the track, the 30-year-old said: “I’ve been working away in the studio over recent months and I can’t wait for you to hear Bad Habits.
“I always aim to push myself and my music in new directions and hopefully you’ll hear that on the new single. Feels great to be back!”
