Ed Sheeran met with the team behind the James Bond films and “certainly” wants to record a theme song for the franchise, his manager has revealed.
Stuart Camp, who has worked with the singer since the start of his career, said that Sheeran, 28, attended a meeting with producer Barbara Broccoli.
However he admitted that Bond bosses are not yet ready to make a decision about music for the upcoming film, which is titled No Time To Die.
“We met [Bond producer] Barbara Broccoli when we played Dublin [in 2017] and they were interested,” Camp told Music Week.
“Danny Boyle was attached to the film after that, who made Yesterday [which Sheeran starred in], so there was a close connection there.
“Obviously they changed directors but we’re still open to it, but they’re not even having those conversations yet.”
He went on to reveal that Sheeran is so keen for the gig that he asks him about it “every day,” despite Camp’s view that “the thing they do last is the music.”
Camp brushed off recent reports that the Shape of You singer has been earmarked by star Daniel Craig to record the theme for his fifth and final outing as 007.
“Those [stories] that said he’s Daniel Craig’s favourite act and it’s all happening aren’t true,” he said.
“It’s certainly something he’d want to do though, it’s a box that’s still to be ticked, for sure.”

Sheeran previously confessed that he has had a Bond theme “written for about three years, just in case.”
No Time To Die is the 25th James Bond film and will be directed by Cary Fukunaga.
It will be released in UK cinemas on April 3, 2020.
Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright and Rory Kinnear will reprise their previous roles, with Oscar winner Rami Malek set to join the cast as a villain.
