Eczema – the 87p ‘miracle’ cream claimed to prevent dry and itchy skin at home

Eczema is a long-term condition that causes the skin to become dry, itchy, red and cracked, according to the NHS. Young children are most at risk of developing eczema symptoms. But it could also develop in later life. If you have eczema, your symptoms can vary between small patches of dry skin, to widespread, inflamed areas of cracked skin. You could protect against the symptoms of eczema by regularly using an Asda’s-own cream, it’s been claimed.

Asda’s Little Angels Liquid Talc helps to relieve eczema signs, according to shoppers.

The cream, which costs just 87p for 125ml, leaves skin feeling soft and smooth, said the supermarket.

It could also help to protect against chapping in babies and absorbs excess moisture, it added.

Reviewers called the product “amazing”, like “gold dust”, and even a “miracle cream”.

One customer said: “[It’s a] super product, absolutely love it. My whole family uses it and it’s brill for my daughter with eczema.”

The cream was specifically made for children, but it could also be used by adults, they said.

Asda said: “Caring for baby Our Little Angels Liquid Talc has been specially formulated with all your baby’s needs in mind.

“This gentle formulation applies like a lotion and dries to a light, talc-like powder to absorb excess moisture and to help prevent chapping.

“It is paraben free, hypoallergenic, dermatologically tested and paediatrician-approved ensuring it’s just right for your little angels – and the rest of the family too.”

Meanwhile, you could also relieve your eczema symptoms by regularly using geranium oil, it’s been claimed.

Geranium oil is an antibacterial that also reduces inflammation, and subsequently relieves eczema symptoms.

There isn’t a specific cure for eczema, but some eczema treatments may help to reduce the itchy signs of eczema at home.

Emollients and creams could be found at your local pharmacy to treat dry skin.

Alternatively, speak to a doctor about a topical corticosteroid cream prescription.

Keeping nails short and wearing light clothing over affected areas could help to reduce damage from habitual scratching.

Speak to a pharmacist if you’re worried about the signs of eczema, or for advice on the best over-the-counter eczema treatments.
