Eat Out To Help Out September: Which restaurants are still doing the 50% off discount?

HUNGRY diners can continue to bag a discount on meals out as major high street chains extend Eat Out to Help Out offers into September.

Harvester, Pizza Hut, Toby Carvery, and Wetherspoon’s are among the chains either extending the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme or running their own similar discounts for some or all of this month.

It comes as Eat Out to Help Out officially ended last month with the government sticking to its decision of not rolling out the scheme for longer.

Under the initiative, which was designed to boost the ailing hospitality industry following coronavirus lockdown, restaurants offered 50% off food and soft drinks, up to £10 a head, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays throughout August.

Discounts were footed by the government for the month so that restaurants didn’t lose out.

The latest figures available reveal that more than 64million meals have been eaten under the scheme.

But chains and independent restaurants hoping to continue to attract customers are now devising their own discounts for September onwards. Here’s what’s happening.

Asda Cafes

Dine in at Asda Cafes during September and you’ll get 25% off all food and drink, every day of the week.

It means you could get a full English breakfast for £3.26, a 16-inch pizza for £4.50, a kids’ pick and mix meal for £1.80, or a small latte for £1.46.

This is available in all 219 Asda Cafes.

Bill’s

Popular chain Bill’s has confirmed it will extend its Eat Out to Help Out scheme, with up to 50 per cent off meals on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in September.

But to get the discount you have to order off a bespoke new menu where, including 50% off, one course costs £10, two courses costs £14.50, and three courses costs £18.95.

For example, an 8oz chargrilled sirloin steak with rosemary salted fries, garlic butter and a mixed seed salad is reduced by 50% from £20 to £10 under the offer.

Bill’s has around 78 branches across the UK.

Deliveroo

Deliveroo is doing a twist on the scheme and is knocking £5 off the bill when you order a takeaway on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday in September.

To claim the discount, you will need to spend a minimum of £20 and use a code to knock money off the bill. The codes are:

  • EATIN1 between September 1 and 2
  • EATIN2 between September 7 and 9
  • EATIN3 between September 14 and 16
  • EATIN4 between September 21 and 23
  • EATIN5 between September 28 and 30

Franco Manca

Franco Manca has confirmed it’ll carry on with the discount scheme throughout September.

This means you can get 50% off food and soft drinks when you dine in on Mondays to Wednesdays in September.

It means foodies can get a margherita pizza for just £2.60, down from £5.20.

The sourdough pizza chain operates just over 50 pizzerias in the UK.

Harvester

Harvester, which is owned by Mitchells & Butlers, has extended Eat Out to Help Out on main meals only for two extra weeks in September.

That means customers can get half price main meals on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays until September 9.

The discount meals that Harvester diners can enjoy include a half rotisserie chicken meal for £5.25 instead of £10.50, or steak and chips for £6.40, down from £12.80.

Harvester has also lifted the £10 per person cap set by the government, but you can’t now get 50% off soft drinks, starters and desserts, and you can no longer stack deals to max savings.

Harvester has 220 restaurants in the UK.

Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut Restaurants is doing two for one on main meals Monday to Wednesday from September 7.

Pizza Hut has 260 restaurants in the UK.

Stonehouse Pizza

Stonehouse Pizza – another Mitchells & Butlers brand – is also planning to extend the half price deal for two weeks.

Its offer is available to customers who eat in on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays until September 9, although the discount will only be applied to mains eaten in.

The chain has lifted the £10 per person cap set by the government, but you won’t be able to stack the deal on top of other offers.

There are over 90 Stonehouse Pizza restaurants in the UK.

Tesco Cafe

Tesco Café has extended its Eat Out to Help Out offer across its food and drinks menu, until the end of September.

This means it is offering 50% off its full menu with no limits on the discount, for dine in and takeaway, Monday to Wednesday.

The current deal offers unbeatable value, including a full English breakfast for just £2.07.

TGI Fridays

TGI Fridays (now known as Fridays) will offer free appetisers when you order a main meal for the first two weeks of September.

Like Eat Out to Help Out, the deal is valid Monday to Wednesday, meaning you can claim it on September 1, 2, 7, 8, 9.

You also need to have the free TGI Fridays app on your smartphone to claim your free appetiser – just show the app to your server before ordering.

It’s valid on all single appetisers, not sharers.

Toby Carvey

Toby Carvery, another Mitchells and Butlers brand, is extending its 50% off deal until September 9.

But it no longer applies to booze, starters or desserts, and you can’t stack offers up to get bigger discounts.

Toby Carvery has 158 restaurants in the UK.

Wetherspoon’s

Wetherspoon’s is cutting prices on food and soft drinks by up to 48%.

The discounts will be available Monday to Wednesday from September 1, until November 11, in all pubs.

Meals on offer include an 11-inch Margherita pizza with a soft drink for £3.99, compared to £5.49.

Punters will also be able to nab a classic six ounce beef burger meal for £3.99, down from £4.99, while a traditional breakfast will cost £2.99, down from £3.49.

During the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, Wetherspoon’s customers had been able to nab the pizza meal for £2.75, the burger meal for £2.50 and a traditional breakfast for £1.75.
