The routes will operate to Newquay Airport.

Starting from June 21, the Manchester to Newquay flights will operate five times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Glasgow to Newquay flights will operate twice weekly on Tuesday and Saturday from June 29, and is the first route from Scotland to Cornwall with easyJet.

With the journey taking more than eight hours to drive, it is great news for Scots wanting to head to Cornwall for a break.

EasyJet’s UK Country Manager Ali Gayward said they were “optimistic” about summer travel, and hope the new routes will allow families to travel again when the restrictions are lifted.

According to The Points Guy, the flights are already on sale with the fares from just £23 one-way from Manchester and £25 one-way from Glasgow.

The UK lockdown currently bans all non-essential travel although this will be reviewed by the government on February 22.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has warned families not to book holidays this summer, explaining: “I’m afraid I can’t give you a definitive, will there or will there not be the opportunity to take holidays this next year either at home or abroad.”

Despite this, other MPs including Matt Hancock have said that holidays mat still go ahead this year, at least in the UK.

Cornwall is already proving popular with families – Visit Cornwall boss Malcom Bell even warned that some tourists were being asked to be on waiting lists for any available cottages in Cornwall due to the high demand.

He told Sun Online Travel: “The demand is there – there are lots of people asking to be put on waiting lists for self-catered places.

“People are phoning up, saying ‘I know you are fully booked but will you take my phone number in case something comes up in July?'”

“I am predicting we will be full up.”

CORNWALL holidays are already being booked up for Christmas after travel experts have warned to plan ahead following demand.

They also have “unusually high demand” for the Christmas season already.

Steve Jarvis, co-founder of Independent Cottages, previously warned: “Ever-popular family destinations such as Cornwall have very few prime weeks available, with around 60 per cent of properties already booked up for popular summer weeks.”
