While Easter is usually a bank holiday that sees warmer weather start to return and holidaymakers explore the UK, this year is a different situation altogether. Tourist hotspots are urging holidaymakers and those with second homes to stay away this weekend as temperatures are set to hit 25C in some areas in the UK.
Councils across the nation have said that those who are planning a getaway will be turned away by police in a shocking move to help halt the spread of the coronavirus.
Local residents have also been reporting visitors who look to be visiting their holiday homes.

Leader of Devon County Council, Councillor John Hart said that the police had been turning those away with caravans or holiday homes.
Although it may seem that going away in a caravan or motorhome won’t harm anyone if tourists stay away from others, that is not the case.

One user said: “So the Cumbrian police are stopping people who’ve driven up from elsewhere in the UK because they want their #BankHolidayWeekend holiday in the Lake District and don’t care if they break #lockdown.
“Same in other places like Devon. What the hell is wrong with people.”
Another said: “Hearing a number of UK registered cars at holiday homes in Tramore and Dunmore East!”
Another posted: “Getting news the M5 is packed and there are hold ups with holiday makers?”
While another warned: “I hope y’all realise that this bank holiday weekend for the uk is a test to see if we can follow the rules and stay in and I already know that we are gunna fail miserably, yes the weather might be nice but just stay in your back gardens for the sake of everyone else!”
Another councillor from Scarborough Council, Councillor Liz Calling said she had also received some reports from local residents about people using holiday homes.
She said: “People are worried because we’ve got a beautiful, well-resourced hospital but it’s for us, for our population.
“It’s just flagrant disregard for the rules. We’re all missing families and friends, especially over the Easter weekend, and to see somebody travel from away to come to one of our beautiful hotspots just makes people angry.”
Councillor Calling explained further that police across North Yorkshire will be stopping tourists over the weekend.
It comes as police have been given the “full support” of the Government in enforcing lockdown rules.
Easter weekend has been described by the UK Government as a “critical juncture” in battling the coronavirus.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s spokesperson made clear that there are still stringent rules in place for UK citizens.
He said that there will not be an early lifting of the strict social distancing rules.
