EastEnders triple split twist as soap bosses drop 35th anniversary bombshells

It has been an explosive 12 months in Albert Square and EastEnders spoilers have revealed that 2019 will go out with a bang.

The end of 2019 has been a dramatic one with the split of Phil (Steve McFadden) and Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean), the shock breakdown of Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and the shock “murder” of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).

EastEnders bosses Kate Oates and Jon Sen have promised big plans ahead of the soap’s 35th anniversary in February.

Amongst all the drama, they have teased some other big stories including the arrival of Suki Panesar and the long-awaited return of Peter Beale.

Chantelle will begin to question her relationship with abusive husband Gray in upcoming scenes

Jon told Daily Star Online and other press: “Coming up, we have the next chapter of the Chantelle and Gray story, and Chantelle’s growing awareness of her situation, and questioning whether Gray will ever change.

“We have a stranger who returns to the Slaters as their guardian angel, and we have the next chapter of the Whitney and Leo story.

“Whitney felt that Leo was done and dusted but, as we will discover, that ain’t so. And we have the little matter of the 35th, of which I can say nothing.”

Kate added: “We’ll be testing Tiff and Keegan’s relationship, we’ve got a big story for them coming up so that’s exciting too.

“The next chapter of the Ballum story as well, so I think we’re really rich in story at the moment, we’re really excited.

“We’ve had some great meetings, and people are coming away buzzing about what’s to come.”

Fans were left devastated last week when Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) broke off his relationship with Callum Halfway (Tony Clay).

Speaking to the publication, Max teased that the spark could be there between the two lovers.

The actor said: “We’re coming away buzzing about the scripts as well.

“I must say, still to this point, every time we get a script everyone’s speeding through them, which is really amazing to still have that excitement, I think.”
