Back in the square, despite initial concerns as she started bleeding, Sharon gave birth to a baby boy at the funeral parlour with help from Ian’s mother Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).

But there was devastating news on the horizon for Sharon as the boat continued to sink.

Thankfully, Ian did go back and let Denny out of the cabin, however, the water continued to rise and they both started drowning while trying to escape.

For a moment, the pair both looked lifeless and it was unclear if either of them were going to survive.

But at the last minute, Ian was alright and survived but unfortunately for Denny, he drowned in the River Thames and ended up being Eastenders’ 35th anniversary victim.

At the end of the episode, Sharon is told about what happened to Denny by Keanu but she blames him entirely for her son dying and screams that she never wants to see him again.

Her former toyboy is then seen leaving Albert Square but fans will have to wait and see to find out if he will ever return and how tonight’s drama will take its toll on the rest of the square.

Eastenders continues on Monday, February 24, at 7.30pm on BBC One.
