EastEnders spoilers: Ian Beale's lies catch up with him as actor teases explosive downfall

EastEnders businessman Ian Beale (played by Adam Woodyatt) is one of the longest running characters on the BBC soap since it began back in 1985, and over that time he’s got himself into a lot of scrapes. But this time he could be in serious trouble if his dark secret is exposed, which actor Adam who plays the father-of-three, has revealed is just around the corner.

Ian has been on-edge ever since his role in the death of Denny Rickman Jr (Bleu Landau) that fateful night aboard the boat party, but so far he’s managed to keep it on the down low.

Before the BBC soap went off-air last month, he silenced Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero), the only person who knows about what actually happened that night below deck.

But while he’s on cloud-nine thinking he’s got away with it, his world will soon come crashing down.

On Monday’s Secrets From The Square, Adam dropped some big hints about the future of his family.

Teasing that Ian won’t be getting away with his “lies” for much longer, he said: “He’s been locked in The Vic with Sharon [Mitchell – Leticia Dean] and the baby.

“Ian’s still got the guilt of what happened to Dennis. Lies will eventually… they’ve got to come back and bite him.”

We can only assume it’s going to be an explosive episode when the secret is outed and Sharon and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) find out that he wasn’t responsible for the death of his step-son after all.

It’s not one to miss that’s for sure!

The actor also teased the return of a fan-favourite to Walford, who could save his skin when times undoubtedly get tough.

And that’s none other than – you probably already guessed it – Jane Beale (Laurie Brett).

It was in fact Lucy’s younger brother Bobby Beale (Clay Milner-Russel) who killed his sister, and Max sought revenge by hiring Ian’s stepson Steven (Aaron Sidwell) to set fire to the cafe.

Jane was last seen fleeing in the back of a cab, but will she make a return to help Ian back on his feet?

Elsewhere on the Square, Max has gotten himself involved in a sticky situation that could prove rather serious.

Before the show’s hiatus, viewers watched as his relationship with Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) crashed and burned as she hooked up with Martin Fowler (James Bye) instead.

But now there’s more heartache in store as actor Jake revealed: “Max has been really busy since we’ve gone back.

“He’s got embroiled in a very unpleasant situation and in a completely different situation something very surprising and unexpected.

“It’s been really busy but it’s great stuff, they’re great scripts and true to form. It’s definitely Max Branning doing what Max Branning does.

He added: “The viewers will be pleased to see him back getting up to his old shenanigans.”

Maybe it isn’t the best time for Jane to make a comeback!

EastEnders can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
