EastEnders spoilers: Gray Atkins flees Walford as police issue his arrest?

EastEnders residents welcomed Chantelle (played by Jessica Plummer) and Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) to the Square earlier this year as they joined the Taylor clan. But for Gray, it seems his time in Walford may be up and he could be leaving in handcuffs.

For the last few weeks, the dark secret held between Chantelle and Gray has been exposed as viewers have seen the hairdresser subjected to harrowing abuse at the hands of her husband.

Scenes have showed Gray flip within seconds, lashing at out Chantelle, punching her in the stomach and dragging her along the floor, despite her being pregnant with their third child.

Those watching this storyline unfold have taken to social media pleading for the outcome to be one where Chantelle plucks up the courage to report or leave Gary for his behaviour.

Express.co.uk spoke to Linda Lamb, Solicitor and Director at LSL Family Law about Chantelle’s situation and what would happen if this was reality.

Gray told her how he was planning on seeking professional help by going to visit a therapist.

While this was a promising sign, his calmness didn’t last for long because he flipped out when she returned from receiving treatment at the hospital for a cut in her hand and saw a domestic abuse helpline card.

There has been speculation as to what EastEnders’ big Christmas storyline is going to be.

Some have suggested it will involve the Atkins’ with one of them ending up dead and the other as the murderer.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Gray lose his temper and control and end up killing Chantelle.

But with her death will also be the death of their unborn baby.

Would the soap be as dramatic to have an explosive double death involving a newcomer?

EastEnders returns Thursday night at 7.30pm on BBC One.
