EastEnders spoilers: Chantelle Atkins rocked by beloved’s death in dark Christmas twist?

Chantelle (played by Jessica Plummer) has been at the centre of a harrowing domestic abuse storyline since she arrived on EastEnders earlier this year with her husband Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith). Recent scenes on the BBC soap have seen the hot shot lawyer try to make amends for his violent outbursts, with the pair planning on renewing their wedding vows. However, as the Walford villain struggles to contain his anger, could he end up killing his wife’s father, Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths)?

Since he arrived on the Square, Gray has struggled to build a relationship with his father-in-law, with the two men clashing on several occasions.

Trying to turn over a new leaf, the lawyer uncharacteristically defended Chantelle’s father when he let down his youngest daughter, Bailey Baker (Kara-Leah Fernandes).

Despite it seeming a truce had been made, Mitch didn’t seem too pleased when his eldest child told him she was renewing her vows with her husband.

As emotions reach fever pitch over Christmas and the protective Walford resident tries to stop proceedings, could his actions result in a deadly showdown with his son-in-law?

According to data given exclusively to Express.co.uk by Good Elf retailers, who analysed the soap’s festive past, it is likely a death will take place during the Yuletide episodes.

Their results showed there is a 62 percent chance one of the Square’s resident’s will meet their maker over Christmas.

In association with William Hill bookmakers, odds for a grim demise to air stand at 8/13.

Having arrived just over a year ago, could Mitch be bidding farewell to Walford as he suffers the brutal extent of Gray’s anger?

Before the pair reunited on the Square, she was estranged from Mitch as he failed to be a presence in her life as a child.

If Gray does kill him, will she fall for his lies about her father’s “disappearance” as she’s overcome with grief?

Chantelle’s abuse ordeal is yet to be revealed to her family and the other residents of Walford, but having taken a life, will her husband lose control?

Despite the abuse being behind closed doors, having killed someone could make the usually smooth-talking father start to behave erratically.

This could lead the couple’s neighbours and loved ones to become concerned about Chantelle’s wellbeing.

If she were to discover the truth about Mitch’s death, would the hairdresser out her husband once and for all?

Viewers learnt this week more about Gray’s past as he opened up about how his father was abusive to his mother before she died.

Could he really commit murder, or will he finally be able to bury the hatchet with his father-in-law?

EastEnders continues Monday at 8pm on BBC One.
