She penned: ‘My handsome boy!! I cannot believe I’m writing this, I am heartbroken but so grateful that I got the pleasure of loving you for 11 whole years, you really were the bestest friend a girl could’ve asked for!

‘The most loyal and kindest dog I ever knew, a gentle giant, a true gentleman, the best fur brother even if only for a short time. I will tell her how much you loved to lay next to her.

‘My gorgeous boy I miss you so much already, your cuddles were like no other, if I could hold you forever I would! My little family won’t be the same without you.’

She added: ‘Thank you for loving me for all those years! I love you always! Sleep tight handsome boy.’

It’s been a summer of highs and lows for Lacey, who welcomed her first child in a ‘lovely’ water birth at Watford General Hospital on Friday July 12.

During an interview with OK! she admitted that they surprised friends and family members by opting to name her her Dusty Violet.

‘It wasn’t on our original list but we did an internet search for “pretty girl” names and we both said it at the same time!’ Lacey explained.

‘We’ve had mixed reactions, people think it’s either really cool or they don’t know what to say!’

Lacey’s husband Matt added: ‘The only other Dusty I know is Dusty Springfield. We do like Dusty Springfield but she wasn’t named after her!’

The birth followed two years of difficulty for Turner and her husband, both 31, with the soap star suffering two devastating miscarriages within a seven month period.

The actress submitted herself to a series of precautionary tests to determine any underlying medical issues before discovering she had fallen pregnant for a third time in November.

Reflecting on the difficult journey that preceded the birth of her daughter, she said: ‘Dusty’s our little miracle – we call her Special Kay!’
