EastEnders icon Charlie Brooks is rumoured to be in the line-up for the next series of Dancing on Ice. The soap star has previously won I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in 2012.
According to Metro.co.uk, the 43 year old is expected to be taking to the ice rink and will be joining the rumoured line-up of The Traitors star Mollie Pearce and TOWIE legend Ferne McCann.
A source said to the publication: “Charlie’s a brilliant signing. She has a huge fanbase from EastEnders and has tons of personality and feisty energy. The ITV bookers hope she can recreate some of her on-screen I’m A Celeb magic.”
Express Online contacted ITV for comment and they responded with: “The lineup for Dancing on Ice 2025 will be announced in due course.”
Charlie officially left her role on EastEnders during the Christmas Day special in 2022. She played Janine Butcher since 1999 and is known as one of the most iconic villains in soap history.
She initially left the soap in 2014, but it was announced in April 2021 that she would be returning to Albert Square.
Following her 2021 return, Janine’s storylines involved her being in a custody battle, plotting a separation between Mick Carter and his wife Linda, and discovering that she is pregnant with Mick’s baby.
During the Christmas special, the episode aired Danny Dyer’s final moments as Mick. The love triangle came to an explosive climax when Janine was exposed for framing Linda, and Janine was ordered by Mick to pack her bags and leave Walford for good.
However, she quickly went on the run with her passport and a tense car chase scene ensued. Mick set off after her with Linda, saying: “She doesn’t get to skip off into the sunset. She’s got to pay for what she’s done.”
As chaos ensued, both Janine and Linda ended up going over a cliff and crashing into the water in Dover. Mick went in and rescued a pregnant Janine, whilst Linda managed to escape by herself. Unknown to Mick, he goes back into the water to save Linda – only to not return.
Later, a distraught Janine was arrested for her crimes and was taken away by the police. The iconic character also exited the soap during the Christmas special and it is not known whether Janine will return on a later date.
Dancing on Ice returns in 2025 on ITV and ITVX.
