Eamonn Holmes: This Morning host details 'exhausting' day following hectic work schedule

This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes, 61, has taken to Instagram to reveal he’s had an “exhausting” Saturday, as he enjoyed his first day off work for the first time in a fortnight. The star is currently hosting ITV breakfast show This Morning with his wife Ruth Langsford, 61, as the show’s usual presenting duo Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are enjoying a summer break.

In view of his 741,000 followers, Eamonn said he was finally able to enjoy his first day off of work in a fortnight.

Despite taking a well-deserved break from his hectic presenting schedule, the Irish TV personality explained he found the day to be draining.

Next to a painting of one of his piercing blue eyes, Eamonn wrote: “Eye,eye …. what r u doing today? (sic)

“I have my first free day in a fortnight and I’m very successfully doing NOTHING.

The tot is the first grandchild for the Irish star, who has three children – Declan, Rebecca and Niall – with ex-wife Gabrielle along with 19-year-old Jack with wife Ruth.

Announcing the news on This Morning, he said: “Good morning to you viewers,” Eamonn began. “Some things have changed since you last saw us, and that is?”

“You’re a grandad,” Ruth sang as the This Morning presenter continued: “It wasn’t just me. My son Declan and his wife Jenny, they are the happy couple and they gave birth, well Jenny gave birth to Emilia, 7lbs and 6oz.

“So that’s lovely. That’s the first grandchild. My mother is a great grandmother.”

Ruth asked: “What are you going to be? Gramps, grandad? Grumps we came up with didn’t we but he wasn’t too keen on that one.”

“Well, you see it surprises people because they look at me and think, ‘He’s too young to be a grandfather,’” Eamonn continued.

Fans of the star rushed to congratulate him on the new arrival, as well as sending best wishes to his son, Declan.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
