Eamonn Holmes has shared a heartbreaking tribute to his wife Ruth Langsford’s sister on their anniversary.

Instead of celebrating their love for one another, the 59-year-old revealed the pair were taking time to remember Julia, who passed away just last week.

Sharing a picture from their wedding, the This Morning presenter spoke about his sister-in-law and how she was a bridesmaid at their big day.

He wrote to his 506,000 followers: ‘It was the hottest day of the year, June 26th 2010.

‘We can’t celebrate our anniversary today but we can still remember Julia in the best way, as one of our bridesmaids, smiling, dancing, and singing.’

Just last week, Ruth announced the sad news on twitter, where she revealed that she was dealing with the loss of her sister in private.

The 59-year-old wrote: ‘My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.

‘She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.’

The presenter’s proud hubby has since spoken out about his wife, where he told the Loose Women panelists she was ‘broken’.

After announcing what was coming up on the daytime show, Andrea McLean sent Eamonn her best wishes.

She told the star: ‘Eamonn, just before we go, we did want to send all our love to Ruth of course.

‘Please do let us know all of us at Loose Women are thinking of her, and of course, you and the family. Lots of love to you.’

The father-of-four, who was getting choked up, responded: ‘Really appreciate it. She’s broken, guys. Thank you very much indeed, thank you.’

Rylan Clark-Neal stepped in for Ruth on the ITV show, and offered up his support.

Eamonn has since thanked him on Twitter, writing: ‘What is it they say … ? A Friend in need is a friend indeed.

‘From @RuthieeL and me , for on and off screen , Thank you @Rylan.’
