Eamonn Holmes announces goals for new gig away from ITV: 'I want to heal and not divide'

Eamonn Holmes has long been a staple of British TV, having presented everything from news, daytime chat programs and game shows, and now he’s making a splash on the radio. It may only be temporary, but the This Morning host hopes that he will do listeners of The Nolan Show proud as he steps into BBC Radio Ulster presenter Stephen Nolan’s shoes for the week.

Taking to Twitter to share the news, Stephen let his followers know they would be in good hands while he takes a break.

“Big announcement, The Nolan Show is honoured that one of the UK’s top newsmen @EamonnHolmes – will be hosting the Nolan Show next week,” he wrote.

“I’ve admired Eamonn since I was a boy & we are so excited to have him.

“Get the News, Make the News with Eamonn Holmes on Nolan at 9.”

“Fantastic Eamonn. Will be wonderful to hear you on air. Admired by many of us,” a third praised.

A fourth welcomed the Irish journalist home: “I’ll pop the kettle on!”

“An Irish legend, THE Eamonn Holmes,” a fifth stated.

This Morning viewers were sad to see the telly stalwart and wife and co-host Ruth Langsford wave goodbye to the daytime chat show now that regular presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are back from their summer break.

The couple, who recently marked their ten year wedding anniversary, saw off their last stint in style with a celebratory lunch at La Casa Restaurant & Grill in Weybridge.
