Dwayne Johnson surprises fans at DC League of Super-Pets screening in costume as Krypto


Fans who attended a special screening of Warner Bros.’ upcoming animated film DC League of Super-Pets got quite the surprise in the form of a Dwayne Johnson appearance.

The 50-year-old actor dressed up in a dog suit for his character Krypto the Super-Dog, the beloved pet of Superman (John Krasinski) in the new movie.

The towering actor also met some fans and a few real pets as well at the Los Angeles event on Monday, ahead of the film’s release on Friday, July 29.

Johnson came out in a full-scale replica costume of his Krypto the Super-Dog costume, before removing the head and revealing himself.

He introduced the film for the Los Angeles crowd, who had a chance to see the film days before the rest of the viewing public.

He even took the time to meet with some fans and was spotted holding a beloved pet before the screening got under way.

Johnson lends his unmistakable voice to Krypto the Super-Dog, who shares the same incredible powers as his owner Superman.

Together they fight crime in Metropolis, but he’s tested like never before when Superman is kidnapped and Krypto has to save him… despite losing his own powers.

He forms a team of shelter animals who were given superpowers to help rescue Superman and the rest of the Justice League.

Johnson leads an all-star voice cast that includes his frequent collaborator Kevin Hart, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Marc Maron, Kate McKinnon, Keanu Reeves, Dascha Polanco, Ben Schwartz, Jemaine Clement, Daveed Diggs, Jameela Jami, Olivia Wilde and Thomas Middleditch.

Jared Stern and Sam Levine direct the animated superhero adventure, which will face the new film Vengeance in theaters plus the re-release of A24’s Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Box office prognosticators have projected an opening weekend between $40 million and $60 million for the animated adventure.

Johnson will return to the DC realm though in live-action form, playing the title character in Black Adam, arriving in theaters October 21.

He also has the Amazon Studios action-thriller Red One in pre-production, starring alongside Chris Evans.

The actor also has a slew of projects in various stages of development, including an adaptation of Doc Savage and a remake of Big Trouble in Little China.
