DreamHack and Challengermode Extend Platform Partnership into 2021

Festival and competition operator DreamHack has extended its partnership with tournament platform Challengermode, with a new multi-year agreement carrying the companies into 2021.

DreamHack first signed an agreement in April 2018 for exclusive use of Challengermode’s platform for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), League of Legends (LoL), and PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) tournaments. The companies had previously worked together for individual events prior to that ongoing partnership.

With the new extension, DreamHack will continue to use the platform for online and community-centric events, including a current weekly series of Dota 2 online tournaments with a total €9K ($9.94K USD) prize pool. The company has also hosted “DreamHack Weekly” online tournaments for CS:GO and PUBG using Challengermode’s platform.

It was also used for open qualifiers for DreamHack’s Nordic Championship in League of Legends and CS:GO via Challengermode’s Nordic National Esports Leagues, which serve Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland.

“DreamHack has always been about bringing value to our community, and having Challengermode as a platform partner has enabled us to do that online in a scale we couldn’t before,” said DreamHack chief procurement officer Michael Van Driel, in a release. “We look forward to expanding DreamHack Weekly and support the grassroots esports communities with even more competitions in CS, PUBG, LoL, and Dota 2—with more games to come.”
