Popular gaming personality and streamer Guy “Dr. Disrespect” Beahm has signed an exclusive multi-year deal to remain with Twitch. Beahm, whose 2020 ranking currently sits at No. 25 at time of writing in regards to hours watched at 5.99M, finished 2019 at No. 26 overall. Beahm regularly commands an audience of over 24K concurrent viewers to go with 4M followers on the Amazon-owned platform. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Media rights and streamers are commodities that various streaming platforms are trying to acquire in order to have the most up-to-date, entertaining, and relevant entertainment rosters in order to attract larger viewership numbers. It is through these numbers that Twitch and its streamers are able to monetize content by selling commercial spots as well as negotiating deals on the split of subscription prices.

In an interview with Dexerto last October, Beahm talked about the difference in money he was making between the time he worked as a developer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and streaming.

“When I’m making millions and millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars, just to put on a show, in comparison to $56,000 plus bonus after three years of working on a project and bonus is barely as much as the salary,” Beahm told Dexerto.

Twitch has made significant moves during the past six months thus far signing the likes of Imane “Pokimane” Anys (3.9M Twitch followers), Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo (3.6M Twitch followers),  Saqib “LIRIK” Zahid (2.3M Twitch followers), and Timothy “TimTheTatman” Betar (4M+ Twitch followers) to multi-year contracts.

Beahm is also looking to grow and expand the character of Dr. Disrespect: In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Beahm talked about what he would like to see.

“That’s a completely different mind-set and path in comparison to just staying stationary on Twitch and streaming every single day,” he says. “That’s still my baby, and I think I’ve done a good job doing that and proving this is what the Doctor’s really good at, but Hollywood would be something really cool to be a part of, doing high-production stuff and really hitting the tone of what the character can truly be.”
