Donny van de Beek's warning to Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba after Man Utd move

Donny van de Beek is confident that he can improve Manchester United’s midfield after finally sealing his move to the Premier League.

The Red Devils announced the signing of the Netherlands international in a £40million deal from Ajax on Wednesday night, after making a breakthrough in negotiations over the weekend.

It is seen as a coup for the Red Devils, with the 23-year-old ace signing a five-year deal after previously being linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham.

The midfield maestro has no doubt that he can compete with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba for a first-team spot; and ultimately help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side challenge for silverware.

“I am now ready to take the next step in my career and perform at the highest level and there is no higher standard than Manchester United.

“This team has some of the best midfielders in the world and I know that I can learn from them and also bring my own strengths to the group.

“Having spoken to the manager about his vision for this team, the direction that the club is going in is hugely exciting and I cannot wait to be a part of that.”

Having joined Ajax at the age of 11, Van de Beek scored 41 goals and provided 34 assists in 175 appearances in all competitions and helped them win the Dutch league title in 2018-19.

“Donny has all of the technical attributes needed to perform in this team,” United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.

“His ability to see space, time his movements and read the game will really complement the qualities that we have in midfield.”
