Donald Trump hits out at Greta Thunberg’s ‘anger management problem’ after she is named Time Person of the Year

Donald Trump has hit out at climate activist Greta Thunberg, saying she needs to “work on her anger management problem” after she was named Time magazine’s person of the year.

Ms Thunberg, 16, was named the youngest ever recipient of the accolade for launching an international movement to hold the government to account over their climate policy.

But the US president, who has mocked the teenager in the past, vented his opposition to the announcement on Twitter.

He wrote: “So ridiculous. Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill”.

Ms Thunberg responded by changing her Twitter bio to “A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”

Mr Trump who won the prize in 2016, was also on the shortlist.

In 2012 he complained about not being in the magazine’s top 100 people list, saying it had “lost all credibility”.

He claimed that he had turned down the award in 2017, something Time Magazine denied.

It’s not the first time the president has mentioned Ms Thunberg. In September he tweeted: “She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see” after her speech at the United Nations.

The teenager also scowled at Mr Trump as he passed in front of her at the New York summit.
