Dominic Calvert-Lewin signs new five-year Everton contract and targets silverware


Dominic Calvert-Lewin has committed his long-term future to Everton by signing a new, improved five-year contract.

And manager Carlo Ancelotti insisted that the England U21 striker is the exciting future of the club, along with defender Mason Holgate, who also signed a long-term deal with the Blues this week.

The striker was offered a double your money agreement that will keep him at Goodison Park until until June 2025, after scoring eight goals in his past 10 Premier League games.

The 22-year-old is the Premier League’s top scorer since Ancelotti arrived at the club, and the Italian boss said of the striker and Holgate: “It’s important because when you have a young player with quality you can build a good future with them.

“The fact that they are English I think is important for the club, for the structure because they know better the atmosphere here. But above all they are players with a lot of quality.”

Calvert-Lewin admitted that the chance to continue to develop under Ancelotti was powerful factor in his desire to stay long term at Everton , and he said: “This is a very proud day.

“And with a man like Carlo leading the ship it makes it easier for us to believe in the process.

“We want to be in Europe and competing in the top competitions. It would mean that bit more to win trophies here because of the journey I have been on with Everton and Evertonians.

“It feels personal and that is how I like it. Personally, I want to get to that next level. I like to think I have shown I am ready to live up to the expectations of being Everton’s number nine.

“But I am well aware of how much I need to improve and how much better I can do.”
