Doja Cat reveals she's quitting vaping after having an abscess surgically removed from her throat

Doja Cat says she’s done vaping after undergoing surgery on one of her tonsils to remove an abscess. 

The 26-year-old singer-songwriter revealed her procedure to fans in a tweet she posted Thursday where she also said that she may soon have bad news for fans. 

‘dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil. i had an abscess in it. my whole throat is f**ked so i might have some bad news for yall coming soon,’ the Kiss Me More singer said.

The Los Angeles native, whose birth name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, said she had an infection before the 2022 Billboard Music Awards which took place on Sunday. 

‘i was taking f**kin antibiotics but forgot that i was taking them and then i drank wine and was vaping all day long and then i started getting a nasty a** growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today,’ she explained. 

She then gave fans way more information than many of them wanted with a series of tweets that followed.

TMI! She then gave fans way more information than many of them wanted with a series of tweets the followed

‘he poked up in dere with a needle twice and then sucked all the juice out and then he took a sharp thing and cut it in two places and squoze all the goop out in dere,’ she wrote. ‘i cried and it hurt a lot but im ok.’ 

She then explained that she was planning on quitting the vape for a while but said she wouldn’t throw it out when one fans suggested it. 

‘Throwing them away just instills panic. I’m addicted but I’m not weak,’ the Woman singer wrote. ‘I was literally staring at my vape today that normally i’d hit a thousand times a day and hit it two times instead. I’ma try to go cold turkey for now but hopefully my brain doesn’t need it at all by then.’ 

She went on to say that throwing away the vape wouldn’t help because ‘Right now I NEED THEM. I don’t WANT them rn because im in pain. But my brain is addicted to it.’

What about the tour? The Like That singer is set to go on her After Hours Til Dawn tour beginning in July though it’s unclear if her surgery will affect the start of that in some way (pictured April 2022)

Doja later tweeted that she planned on getting her tonsils removed ‘very soon.’ 

The You Right hitmaker won four awards at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday out of a total of 14 nominations. 

She took home awards for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Female Artist, Top R&B Album, and Top Viral Song.

The Like That singer also announced that she would also not be joining The Weeknd on his After Hours Til Dawn tour this summer because of the surgery. 

‘Hi guys. I wanted you to hear it from me first. Unfortunately I have to have surgery on my tonsils asap. The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take awhile because of swelling. That means I am going to have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour. 

‘I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all.’
