Doja Cat stunned fans by debuting her new buzz cut and proceeding to shave her eyebrows off during an Instagram Live session.
On Thursday, the 26-year-old took to her social media page and explained that she was undergoing the dramatic transformation because she ‘never liked’ having hair.
Doja, who is known for her quirkiness, then grabbed a razor and started shaving her brows off.
She said: ‘I just can’t believe that it took me this long to be like, “Shave your f**king head”. I feel like I was never supposed to have hair anyway… I don’t like having hair.
‘I never liked having hair. I cannot tell you one time, since the beginning of my life, that I’ve ever been like, “This is cool.” I just do not like to have hair.’
The Grammy winner also admitted she felt ‘so f**king exhausted when working out’ in wigs, which would start ‘sliding and peeling off her head.’
‘I would be working out, but I couldn’t focus because I was more concerned about how I looked. Or how my hair was doing, and how to keep it adhered to my scalp,’ she continued.
It’s perhaps unsurprising to some that she made this move.
Back in 2020, an old video surfaced online of the musician complaining about her 4C hair texture – which is commonly associated with afro hair.
Type 4 hair is also referred to as ‘kinky’ hair and is characterised by its tight, dense texture and natural lift, and the volume that comes with it is caused by its unique curl pattern.
In the clip, the Woman singer ranted: ‘4C can suck my ass. 4C can bend over and l**k my ass.’
She then controversially added: ‘Jesus Christ… why did God even make this 4C hair?’
Her latest shaved head clip also comes after she lost 200,000 Instagram followers – from 24.5 million to 25.17 for recently hitting out at actor Noah Schnapp for sharing their private DMs.
Last month, she slammed the Stranger Things star, 17, for posting messages in which she asked him to set her up with his co-star Joseph Quinn, 29.
She soon came under fire from fans who reminded her that Noah is a minor.
Doja had said it was ‘socially unaware’ for the Netflix star to share their private conversation online and fumed that it was ‘like weasel s**t’ for him to have done so, adding: ‘That’s like borderline snake s**t...’
