When is the EastEnders 35th anniversary?

EastEnders will mark its 35th anniversary next week as Mick and Linda Carter host a boat party to celebrate winning the Pub of the Year contest.

The week’s episodes will focus on the 24 hours as the boat party gets underway.

Producer Jon Sen said: “We wanted to entertain the audience on the iconic river which has heralded the start of the show for 35 years.”

Does Mick Carter drown in the 35th anniversary boat tragedy in EastEnders?

EastEnders have confirmed that one major character will drown on the hit BBC One soap after going overboard while cruising on the River Thames.

Official spoiler pics have already revealed that Mick ends in the water as the boat party gets underway.

The snaps from last month show Mick’s sister Tina Carter yelling out for her brother and jumping onto a lifeboat with Jack and Max Branning in an effort to get him.

EastEnders fans will know that Mick is terrified of water and can’t really swim.

The latest trailer for the explosive boat scenes left fans convinced that Mick will meet his death in the river’s whorls after noticing he’s wearing a jacket the same colour as the person later receiving CPR.

Fans flocked to Twitter after watching the new trailer to express their certainty that Mick will die.

One fan said: “Mick is wearing this green jacket in the trailer and the person being given CPR is wearing green. Also, it would be such a good way to tie his first story about struggling to swim with his death and how he drowns saving his wife. IM SO CONVINCED #EastEnders.

Another added: “Dennis dies next week and it’s down to Ian my guess we all seen the green jacket pics earlier and people thinking it was mick but Dennis has a green jacket on also #eastenders.”

It was also revealed by the show’s story editor Tom Courtney that Danny Dyer’s iconic green jacket had been sold in a recent BBC costume sale.

The jacket sale has further sparked viewers’ concerns that Mick may perish in the river.

One fan tweeted: “If they’re selling off Mick’s costume, could this mean he’s the one to die in anniversary week?”

But fans will have to tune in to see whether the green jacket was a cleverly constructed distraction from the EastEnders team, or whether Mick really does meet his end in the river.

Does Linda Carter die in EastEnders?

Fans were originally convinced that a drunk Linda would be the one to topple overboard and drown during the explosive anniversary scenes.

But Kellie Bright – who plays Linda – has hinted that she won’t die during the boat disaster.

While it looks like she will end up in the Thames after disaster strikes, she teased that she won’t be the one who perishes.

Speaking on This Morning, Kellie said: “It’s the most epic week I’ve been involved in on the show.

“I can tell you it centres around a party on a boat on the Thames, and I get wet.”

When Phil suggested that Linda won’t die, Kellie smiled and half-heartedly said: “It might be.”

Fans are certain that a drunken Linda is going to be behind Mick’s death. One fan tweeted: “This is too much first Mick falls overboard possibly cos Linda drunkenly pushes him in and Tina, Jack or Max might die trying to save him.”

Another added: “Watch Mick will die for Linda.”

Is Danny Dyer leaving EastEnders?

Danny told the Daily Star this month that he could quit the show as early as 2020.

Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, the actor said: “Ideally I’ll retire when I’m 55 and we’re going to travel the world. I’m 42 now, so another 10-year stretch and then I’ll take a back seat.”

He added: “I love EastEnders. I’m very grateful for that gig. It’s a lovely, lovely job. How long will I keep doing it? I’ll do it for at least a couple more years for sure.”

But EastEnders are yet to confirm any details of Danny Dyer’s early retirement from the show that would coincide with his character dying in next week’s boat disaster.
