Doctor Who fans left ‘vomiting’ by new villain’s detachable fingers – which he shoots into victims’ ears

DOCTOR Who introduced a seriously sinister video in latest episode Can You Hear Me?

Jodie Whittaker and the gang faced off against two immortal beings hell-bent on weaponising humanity’s darkest nightmares this week.

Rakaya had the ability to detatch and regenerate his fingers

Rakaya, a creature of deistic proportions, lured everyone’s favourite Time Lord into a trap in a bid to free his companion Zellin.

The pair had passed away eternity by turning planets against each other and had turned their attention to Earth.

However, it wasn’t the potential end of mankind as we know it that viewers found unbearable – it was Rakaya’s decidedly unusual method of attack.

The alien being had the ability to detach his fingers and send them flying telepathically at his opponents.

Specifically, he would shoot his fingers into his foes’ ears to harvest their inner thoughts and lock them in dream-like states.

The fingers extracted nightmares from unsuspecting victims

Fans took to Twitter to express their revulsion at the flying digits.

“I’ve gotta admit that’s the weirdest wet willy I’ve ever seen,” one user quipped.

A second echoed: “Freaking me out with the finger in the ear thing.”

While a third wrote: “Massive props to Doctor Who for teaching kids some important stuff: it’s perfectly normal to have feelings, dark times don’t always last forever, and talking about it can help in all sorts of ways. Oh, and detachable fingers are creepy!”

And a fourth chimed in: “Ugh. It’s like wet willy’s but a million times worse.”

The episode saw two immortals set their sights on Earth

Plenty of others posted string of vomiting emojis and memes of people retching, clearly feeling sick to their stomachs.

Rakaya’s fingers weren’t the only thing to spark discussion on social media.

The episode, which kicked off in Aleppo, Syria, during 1380, saw Jodie arrive at a hospital, whereupon she praised how progressive the country was with its treatment of mental health patients compared to other parts of the world.

The adventure sparked some major questions about mental health as the likes of Yasmin (Madip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) opened up about their own innermost struggles.

Jodie Whittaker managed to save the day, as usual

We learned that Yas ran away as a teen after bullying at school drove her to serious depression, but an interaction with a local police officer gave her hope and set her on the path to join her local constabulary.

Meanwhile Ryan urged his best friend to open up to his mates after he shared his struggles with anxiety and insomnia, stressing the importance of communication and honesty.

Graham found himself locked in fear that his cancer would return, while also dealing the survivor’s guilt in the wake of late partner Grace’s death.

Unfortunately some viewers found the collection of testimonies to be to the detriment of the action and were very vocal with their issues.

Doctor Who continues on BBC One on Sunday at 7:10pm and will be available to stream on iPlayer.
