Another fan said: “Does anyone find this year especially their hay fever is really bad? I usually have it quite mild but this year I’m really suffering.”

Listing his favourite hacks, the doctor advised: “Put Vaseline or coconut oil around your nostrils. This traps the pollen and stops it getting into your airways and sensitive tissues.

“If you come in from outside, have a shower, wash your hair and change your clothes. There will be lots of hidden pollen on your hair, body parts and clothes that you need to get rid of.

“Finally, limit alcohol intake. Alcohol can increase histamine levels in your body – this is a chemical which increases inflammation and allergy type symptoms. Stick to the virgin mojito.”

The video has been watched more than 1.3 million times, as one commented to confirm: “THE FIRST ONE (Vaseline around your nostrils) WORKS GUYS I’VE BEEN DOING IT FOR YEARS.”

A second suggested: “Also try chewing on raw ginger! My aunt taught that to me and it really does help in 5-10 mins.”

And another joked: “No alcohol!? Like hay fever isn’t making me miserable enough already.”
