Avatar 2 was supposed to drop at the end of next year.

However it seems Disney have changed up their plans in order to welcome three new Star Wars films.

That’s right, the much anticipated sci-fi will no longer be hitting screens in 2021, and will now grace us with its presence a whole 12 months later.

This means that proposed sequels of the movie have also been pushed back, and if they do happen, won’t be seen until 2027.

But fear not, as it sounds like the network has a plan.

Yes, Disney also announced that they have another three Star Wars films in the making, which they revealed would drop in 2022, 2024, and 2026.

As well as this, they will also be serving up Mulan, Cruella and Death On The Nile all within the upcoming year.

Later this year, Disney are planning on releasing their Star Wars movie: The Rise of Skywalker.

After that we have to wait a whole three more years for the next trilogy to begin.

Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger spoke about the break when appearing on Bloomberg Television.

Here he told presenter Emily Chang: ‘We will take a pause, some time, and reset.

‘The Skywalker saga comes to an end with this ninth movie. There will be other ‘Star Wars’ movies, but there will be a bit of a hiatus.’

Just recently, Star Wars boss Kathleen Kennedy has teased further movies with core characters we have already met.

‘You know, there is an appropriate time,’ the film’s producer told MTV News.

‘We’re using this appropriate time as an opportunity to see where we’re going now that we’re leaving the Skywalker saga behind.

‘But there’s no question that there’s certain characters that we’ve created, certainly in the last three movies, that we may very well wanna see down the line in the future.’
