Diogo Jota explains why Trent Alexander-Arnold wants 'revenge'

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is “looking for revenge” on team-mate Diogo Jota, after the forward beat him in the final of the inaugural ePremier League Invitational FIFA 20 tournament back in April.

Jota’s Wolves beat Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool thanks to a golden goal from Raul Jimenez and, now that the pair are team-mates at Anfield, Jota has revealed that the England star is after a rematch on FIFA 21.

Speaking to the Athletic, the Portuguese international said: “I think Arnold is looking for revenge so we will see what happens in our next game.

“I haven’t played against my other team-mates at Liverpool yet. We haven’t had enough time with all the matches.”

Jota is an avid gamer and a big fan of both FIFA and Football Manager, adding: “Since my dad gave me my first PlayStation as a kid, it’s been like another passion of mine. I always played football on it.

“I always liked games where you can manage your own team. In the world of esports, I feel like I can have three things all together — my passion for football, the competition of playing against other people and also managing.

“You can have a great world if you play responsibly. It can be a professional thing but for me, during my life, it’s been a proper hobby. I have time to do other things as well.

“I also love managing games and I think Football Manager is the top one. I’ve been waiting for the release of the new game to start playing again. Now it’s out, I’m sure I’ll find something interesting to do, project-wise.”

Nuno Moura, the Portuguese Football Federation’s chief marketing officer added: “I’ve got to say, Diogo is one hell of a player, on the pitch and on the console!

“Although it’s only a hobby for him and he’s a professional footballer with a lot of responsibilities, he’s amazing.

“As well as winning the Premier League final, he’s also done very well competing against some of our players who are in the top 10 in the world for efootball. I know he’s a humble guy but he’s amazing on that console.”
