Dillian Whyte has ramped up his feud with Tyson Fury by claiming he witnessed the Gypsy King ‘sobbing on the canvas’ and has put his rival down multiple times in training.

Fury holds the WBC belt which Whyte is mandatory challenger to, but the Bodysnatcher recently launched legal action against the sanctioning body over his date to challenge the champion.

Whyte has already been warned by Fury his efforts will come to nothing and aimed a new dig at his fellow Brit on Friday.

He said: ‘Dillian Whyte, [you’re] a mug, come back when [you] achieve something dosser. A man who [is] famous for getting chinned by AJ.’

Whyte was quick to fire back at Fury, who he sparred years ago, and made repeated his claim he has floored the champion before.

‘Gypsy Tyson Fury Coward always conning the public,’ Whyte replied.

‘You forget I’ve put you down lots before & watched you pathetically sobbing on the canvas.

‘You ran away last year when WBC ordered you to fight me anytime anywhere anyhow #FakeTyson #Coward.’

While Fury remains in limbo over the date for his next fight, Whyte will headline Matchroom’s return from the coronavirus lockdown.

Whyte takes on Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin on 22 August in a behind closed event that will take place outside at Matchroom’s headquarters in Essex.
