Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has cleared up any confusion over the ‘#tbt’ photo he shared of himself and former flame Jennifer Lopez back in May, insisting there was ‘no trolling involved’.

Just a month after her split from ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez was confirmed in April, Diddy took to Instagram to share an old pic with J-Lo, showing the two of them walking hand-in-hand.

At the time, tongues were already wagging over the rumoured Bennifer reunion (now thoroughly confirmed) and so his social media post caused some confusion.

In an interview for Vanity Fair’s September issue, the rapper and entrepreneur insisted it was just a throwback post from a great time in his life.

When pushed, he clarified: ‘It wasn’t no trolling involved, that’s just my friend. And I don’t have nothing to say about her relationship or her life.’

The photo was of a fresh-faced Jennifer sporting a chunky white jumper and a pair of jeans as she strolled along with her then-boyfriend, wearing a personalised grey tracksuit.

The pair dated from 1999 to 2001 and friends reacted to Diddy’s share, with Timbaland leaving three startled eye emojis in the comments, while Ester Dean wrote: ‘Don’t get me excited!’

Jen is now confirmed back with ex Ben Affleck, who she dated after Diddy and after her marriage to choreographer second husband Cris Judd.

The couple met on the set of notorious turkey Gigli in 2001 and began dating the following year, attracting media interest after Ben appeared in Jennifer’s Jenny from the Block music video.

They initially split in early 2004, having called off their wedding in 2003, but 2021 is the year of Bennifer 2.0 and they reunited after 17 years apart.

Diddy recently commented on the Euro 2020 racism outrage, taking to Instagram to hail Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka as inspirational and dismiss the racist onslaught they had faced.

The footballers had failed to score in the final against Italy but Diddy praised them as ‘kings’.

He continued: ‘Proud of all your efforts on and off the field and we will always support you. Continue to inspire. Love.’
