Dianne Buswell: ‘They see things we don’t’ Strictly pro defends judges amid shock exits

Dianne Buswell, 30, said she believes the Strictly Come Dancing judges know exactly what they are doing, and ultimately have enough experience between them to save the most deserving competitors.

Her claims come in spite of her and her celebrity partner Dev Griffin being the third couple booted off by the judges, which didn’t receive a great reaction from viewers who complained about their exit online

Speaking to Digital Spy at The Pride of Britain Awards 2019 red carpet, the Australian ballroom dancer argued the judges do their job “very, very well”.

She said: “The judges are there to do their professional job, and they do that very, very well. They are sat there, they see things that we don’t see.”

“They have the best seats in the house, and I trust their judgement.”

Her loyal defence comes days after Catherine Tyldesley was voted off Strictly following a dance off with Mike Bushell.

The decision sparked outrage with many viewers taking to social media to criticise presenter Mike’s performance, arguing that former Corrie actress Catherine should have stayed on the show.

But Dianne continued to defend the judges decisions and said that the recent shock exits, including her own, are simply part of the Strictly game.

She said: “It is what it is. It’s that thing about Strictly.

One week you can be amazing and the next week you have a medium dance that puts you in the position where you could be going home.

“It’s the name of the game. It can be anyone’s game at any time.”

At the time, Dianne did take to her Instagram to express how sad she was for Dev to be voted off.

Sharing a beaming selfie of the pair, she wrote: “This guy had so much to give and worked sooooo hard I’m so sorry your journey was cut short you have done me so proud, every week you would say you just didn’t want to let me down!”(sic)

She continued: “Dev you sooo didn’t you were a dream to teach and you were turning into such a great dancer thank you so much for everything.”

The Strictly pro is in a relationship with her celebrity partner from last year, YouTuber Joe Sugg.

The pair met when they were partnered up together on Strictly and announced they were official after the final.

Dianne split up with Emmerdale actor Anthony Quinlan during her time on the series last year.

Joe, 28, and brother to YouTube sensation Zoella, spoke on ITV’s Lorraine about Dianne’s shock Strictly exit.

He said: “I really don’t think it should have been them to go.

“I think think they had so much potential. He was an amazing student.”
