DIANE Abbott’s face is appearing on stamps after a bizarre prank by a fan of the Labour politician.
Royal Mail bosses have launched a fraud probe after the counterfeit stamps came to light.
It’s unclear whether the fake stamps are a genuine attempt to defraud the postal service – or just a jokey tribute to the Corbyn ally.
The stamps, which show Ms Abbott in place of the Queen, appeared in her Hackney constituency in East London.
A postie told the Hackney Gazette: “Obviously it’s a serious offence to send fraudulent stamps through the mail, though I feel this might be a lighthearted stunt.”
The Royal Mail is investigating the incident amid fears it could be losing cash thanks to the stamps.
A spokesman said: “It is a crime to create or use counterfeit stamps.
“Royal Mail takes the necessary steps to protect stamp revenues which help fund the universal postal service which serves the UK’s 30million households and businesses.
“We will seek to prosecute where we find someone has created counterfeit stamps or knowingly sold used stamps for re-use.
“This matter is being investigated by our security team.”
Ms Abbott did not respond to a request for comment.
The Shadow Home Secretary was mocked last month after The Sun snapped her illegally drinking booze on public transport.
