'Dialled-up blonde' is the low-maintenance hair trend the top colourists are loving RN

As soon as it gets hot, people flock to their favourite hair salon in their droves to go full blonde. But as anyone who has made the transition to bright blonde knows only too well, it can often be a bit of a faff (and an expensive one at that).

What if we told you there was a way to get a subtle version of blonde that comes without quite so much effort?

Celebrity and Associate Colourist at Josh Wood Colour, Josh Hogan, has a brilliant suggestion for anyone who fancies themselves blonde but doesn’t want to go all out. He calls it ‘dialled-up blonde’.

“Rather than going through dramatic change in summer, you just need to dial up what you already have – not necessarily all over, but in key areas through your hair working with your haircut and regular style to really add some drama and help everything feel fresh,” he says.

He has a few variations on this hair update in mind, depending on what you’d like to do.

“Whether it’s a dramatic face frame, brightening up the ends or working ribbons of creamy blonde throughout the hair to give an all over lighter appearance,” he says.

“This technique came about from clients who wanted something new for summer but were generally pretty happy with their hair colour as it was and also for clients who couldn’t afford the commitment of a major blonde makeover.”

That said, Jason wants to remind every blonde that there is always going to be a home care aspect. “To really keep that blonde looking great between salon visits, you do need to make an investment on your part in good home care products.

“I will always give my clients a personalised description on what to use depending on the products I use on their hair during the service and the current condition. I always say there is a blonde to suit everyone and I always take into account skin tone, eye colour, previous colour on the hair, and their personal style to really create something unique and personalised to them.”
