Diablo 4 leaked by German artbook, Diablo 2 remaster rumoured

This year’s Blizzcon should be diabolically good

This year’s Blizzcon looks like it’s finally going to see an announcement for Diablo 4, and probably a remaster of the second game too.

Even before all the business with silencing people over supporting Hong Kong pro-democracy protests, Blizzard really needed this year’s Blizzcon convention to go well.

Last year’s was a complete disaster, although that wasn’t really Blizzard’s fault, as fans overreacted to the news that there’s going to be a Diablo smartphone game with all the usual online petitions and talk of boycotts.

They were particularly upset because they’d misinterpreted an earlier message to suggest that a Diablo 4 announcement was imminent, but this time it seems like it really is.

The evidence is slim but from two different sources, starting with proven insider Metro (no relation) who has successfully predicted Blizzcon reveals before.

German magazine GameStar has also run an ad for a Diablo artbook which reads: ‘Featuring over 500 artworks from Diablo, Diablo 2, Diablo 3 and Diablo 4’.

That’s in an addition to a report from Kotaku back in June, that Blizzard had cancelled work on a planned first person Starcraft game in order to work more on Diablo 4.

The Diablo 2 remaster hasn’t been mentioned before but is not much of a surprise given how Blizzard has been bringing back a number of its old games recently, including the first Diablo.

Blizzcon starts on Friday, 1 November, so there’s not long till we find out for sure what’s happening. But whatever Blizzard have planned they’re surely going to pull out all the stops this year.
