Devastated Peter Andre begged Australian embassy to let him fly to see parents

Peter Andre has begged the Australian embassy to allow him to travel back to Australia to be with his elderly parents.

The TV personality said that he is desperate to cuddle his mum and dad Thea and Savvas who are both in their mid-eighties.

The 47-year-old’s parents have been unable to travel from Australia due to the fact the government has enforced a strict ban on most international travel.

So, in a final attempt to reunite with his dear folks, Peter took it upon himself to contact the Australian embassy in the hopes that they would let him fly to see his mum Thea, who currently ‘is not very well’.

Opening up about his heartache in his latest column for  new! Magazine, Peter insisted that his parents were his ‘main priority’ this year.

The proud dad-of-four penned: “My number one priority this year is to go and see my mum and dad in Australia, as I miss them too much.

“I’m anxiously awaiting the borders opening as it’s been upsetting not seeing them, especially as my mum isn’t very well.”

Peter went on to explain that he hoped he could fly Down Under because his mother is currently not in the best health, but sadly, he doesn’t fit the criteria for emergency flights.

“I actually contacted the Australian Embassy because there are special circumstances whereby family members can fly over, but sadly I don’t fit the criteria,” he explained.

In December, it was announced the Australian government has extended its ban on international travel, with residents only allowed to leave the country for specific reasons.

Restrictions on international travel departures and cruise ships in Australia will remain in place until at least mid-March.

Last month, Peter shared his fears that he won’t be able to see his beloved parents until 2022 amid strict Covid travel rules.

Opening up on the heart-wrenching situation, the singer told  The Sun   : “The greatest Christmas present would be to see mum and dad, but that’s not allowed.

“Dad was telling me that they said on the news that it might even be the end of next year they allow international travel.”

The former I’m A Celebrity star is worried that he may not see his parents ever again due to their age.

An emotional Peter explained: “It really worries me because mum and dad are in their late 80s. When they were in their 40s and I was a teenager, not seeing them for a year, you just knew you’d see them a year later and they’d be fine.”
