Michelle Williams has opened up about her ‘fragile’ mental health after her stint on The Masked Singer.

The Destiny’s Child star, who previously sought treatment for her depression, stayed out of the limelight after her engagement ended in late 2018.

However, she recently made her comeback on the singing competition, being unmasked as The Butterfly.

Chatting to PEOPLE, she explained that her mental health is ‘still a little fragile’, but she thinks the show will give her some strength.

Confessing that she’s always felt ‘insecure’ in her voice, the star went on to say: ‘I’m definitely trying to figure things out musically. I know the way we used to do music years ago, you can’t really do it anymore.’

She also explained what she’s learnt, adding: ‘I learned that sometimes we can let our fears cloud how strong we actually are. The majority of the time the stuff that plays in our head is lies. Lies can rob you of your strength.

‘I also learned to not make permanent decisions out of temporary feelings. I don’t know if I want to perform again. Of course, I’ll do theater and all that stuff but do I really want to be an artist full-time?

‘I want to make sure if the answer is no, that the reasoning behind it is not because of feeling like you’re not wanted in the industry. It has to be because you know you can go on and do something greater.’

Michelle had The Masked Singer viewers and judges shocked when she revealed herself as The Butterfly.

She praised the show for helping her find her feet as a singer again after stepping away from the spotlight to focus on her mental health at the end of last year.

‘I’ve been on big stages,’ she admitted.

‘But for me personally, this was something for me to know: ”No, you got this!” What a confidence builder,’ Michelle said, adding: ‘I haven’t worked all year, since December of last year, so this was a way to come back strong, and I’m so glad to share it with you all.’
