Des Plaines Voters Reject Appointed City Clerk Bid; Rosemont Voters Favor Cannabis Sales, Video Games – Journal & Topics Newspapers Online


Voters in Des Plaines Tuesday overwhelmingly rejected a binding proposal to eliminate electing a city clerk and instead have the city manager appoint someone to fill the position.

With all precincts reporting, 5,516 or 66.8% voted against the proposal in Tuesday’s referendum while 2,738 voted in favor of it. 

In Rosemont, voters overwhelmingly voted in favor of two advisory referendum questions. One of the questions asked voters in they favor allowing cannabis dispensaries to operate in the village. Fifty-nine percent, or 450 voters, said yes, and 303 said no.

On the second question, voters were asked if they favor allowing video gaming in the village. A total of 553 voters, or 71.7% said yes and 218 said no.
