Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder are set to officially announce their much-anticipated rematch after agreeing terms for a January showdown, according to Metro.co.uk sources.
The heavyweight rivals fought to a controversial draw last December, before Fury pulled out of their mooted summer rematch earlier this year.
With Anthony Joshua set to make his American debut at Madison Square Garden this Saturday, Wilder confirmed on Twitter that he had ‘signed’ to fight Fury for the second time.
He said: ‘Well, as I always say, I’m the realest champion in the business and as I’ve mentioned before, I must handle all my controversial fights ASAP.
One fell to his Knee,
the other on his Back…

‘Luis Ortiz is first, then Tyson Fury next,’ he continued. ‘All contracts have been signed already. It’s officially on.’
The second fight is pencilled in for January, providing Wilder comes through his end-of-year clash with Luis Ortiz.
Fury is booked to take on Tom Schwarz in Las Vegas on 15 June, and the Gypsy King is scheduled to fight again on ESPN before the end of the year.
An official announcement is imminent and the news comes on the eve of Joshua’s debut in America.
AJ’s fight week in New York was fraught with tension between the world’s leading heavyweight trio, as Joshua and Eddie Hearn hit out at Wilder for ‘dodging’ a unification clash.
Wilder announced on Wednesday he would take on Ortiz in his next fight, prompting a furious response from Matchroom boss Hearn, who branded the WBC champion ’embarrassing’.
Fury’s decision to sign a co-promotional deal with Top Rank and ESPN in February derailed the initial rematch talks, with Wilder tied to rival American broadcaster Showtime.
Wilder then rejected a two-fight offer from Joshua’s American platform and streaming giants DAZN to continue on Showtime, knocking out Dominic Breazeale in one round two weeks ago.
